Bell Tower Youth Occupies Cathedral

The bell tower youth of Saint André, France, occupied Grenoble cathedral in the evening of May 21, spending the night there.

The young people are opposing the expulsion of two priests of the Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP) who were serving their communities which are now in danger of falling apart.

The FSSP was invited into Grenoble Diocese in 2018 by then Bishop de Kerimel. But after Traditionis Custodes, Kerimel kicked them out and cancelled the regular Sunday Mass.

When the faithful protested, De Kerimel refused to listen to them and ignored their petitions. However, in 2021, a collection strike resulted in a shortfall of €430’000 for the diocese.

Geweldig, hoe meer bezettingen en hoe meer collecte stakingen hoe duidelijker het wordt dat de Rooms Katholieke kerk een naar binnengekregen kerk is en geen enkele relatie meer heeft met de vooral jonge gelovigen.

I wonder, does he make sure that every priest serving in his diocese is present and concelebrating at the Chrism Mass? If not, then he is acting in a way that is punitive, discriminatory, and completely unfair. I’ve never heard of a diocese that makes this compulsory for all, though it is often “strongly encouraged.”
