Roman Rite: "Francis Doesn't Understand that We Are No Longer Stuck in the 1960s"

At St Aloysius Church in Caulfield/Melbourne, Australia, where the Roman Rite Mass is celebrated, every pew is filled on Sunday, many by young parishioners, writes ABC.Net.au (27 June).

More than half of the faithful is under 30.

The article quotes 23-year-old convert Llewellyn Beer: "Zoomers want authenticity more than anything, and I think you'll find that at a Latin Mass."

"Holy Mass is divine and so uncompromising - you're witnessing something beyond your own frail existence," says Elisha Andres, 21: "One can tell this Mass is not about oneself, it's not about entertainment, it's really about the Lord."

Rev. Glen Tattersall, also a convert, celebrates Mass at St Aloysius. He thinks Francis is "out of touch".

"I think he's kind of typical of his age and his background - he doesn't understand that we're not stuck in the 1960s anymore."

"He talks a lot about 'everyone is welcome in the Church', but I'm sorry to say that a lot of Catholics don't feel very welcome in this pontificate at the moment."

Other young Catholics at St Aloysius said they preferred the "sincerity" and "authenticity" of the Latin language and ancient ceremony.

As Zachary Dennis, 27, a convert, puts it: "Once I decided to become a Catholic, this was the only logical choice for me, and I'm sure those around me would agree."

Father Shawn Murphy, the priest who leads the young adult group at St Aloysius, said the parish regularly attracts "around 750" parishioners on a Sunday.

"Certainly this has been recognised by the Archbishop of Melbourne as one of the fastest growing parishes," he said.

Much of the above posting I agree with, but not all that was reported from St. Aloysius, Caulfield. Father Tattersall often opens his mouth before his brain is in gear, and he verbalises this with his reactive comment to Pope Francis, quote, "Francis is out of touch." going onto say, "I think he's kind of typical of his age and his background - he doesn't understand that we're not stuck in the 1960s anymore." To that, I take umbrage. I loved the sixties, British pop scene, you know, The Beatles etc. Going to Mass, before and during V2, No computers, Eye Phones, Face book, Twitter, such a more innocent time. God has deemed, for whatever reason, that my life should extend way beyond that experienced by my parents and grandparents. Most importantly, growing old has allowed me ample time to ensure living a good catholic life takes precedent over anything else, including 'fondest memories' of the past. Anyway, I prefer the Society Mass, less pretentiousness.

The Novus Ordo is a creation of faithless men and is suitable for no one. The Traditional Latin Mass was born and cultivated in Mother Church under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the instructions of Christ Himself. It is the Rite willed by God for His worship by his children.

The Novus Ordo is for babies, the TLM is for men.

I'm only 22. All I got my whole life wwas VAtican II garbage, liberal priests in the parish, laywomen all over the altar, old nuns in their 70's in secular clothes as teachers, in highschool burned out liberal tired ol' guy Augustinian friars, in college, heretic Jesuits in their 70's. My prents both are just now 50 years of age. THey never got anything but VAtican II as well (except my DAd, who was not originally CAtholic). My Dad's parents (both still living), were born into the Assyrian Orthodox Church, but now go to the Greek Orthodox, which is practically the same. My Mom's parents faithfully go to Sunday MAss. None of my brothers or sisters or me go to MAss...except maybe Christmas.
THere's no TLM near us, but having seen it on YouTube, I cam understand why no one goes to the Vatican II MAss, or very few.
THere's one word to fit Francis papacy and the VAtican II Mass, besides heretical. That is BORING!!!!!
