Conclave: Freemason Hopes His Friend Will Be Elected Pope
This is what Giuliano Di Bernardo told IlFattoQuotidiano.it (3 May). The newspaper described Di Bernardo as a "good friend" of Cardinal Parolin.
Di Bernardo was Grand Master of the Grand Orient of Italy before founding the Regular Grand Lodge of Italy, the Academy of the Illuminati and the Dignity Foundation, created in Switzerland on 11 April 1993. The Foundation is made up of people linked to Opus Dei and the Duke of Northampton, a senior member of English Freemasonry.
Di Bernardo considers that Cardinal Parolin is the right candidate "to repair the ecclesiastical institution".
Part of the interview concerns the collaboration between Parolin and Di Bernardo "on various projects".
"When I left the Grand Orient of Italy [in 1993], the Vatican let me know that it would be happy to have one of its representatives among the members of the Academy [of the Illuminati]. I then met Giorgio Eldarov, a highly intelligent Bulgarian who was one of the founders of the Academy. One day Eldarov told me that someone from the Vatican Secretariat of State wanted to meet me. I found myself face to face with the then Undersecretary of State, Pietro Parolin".
This meeting led to "a complete understanding and affinity, to the extent that we worked together on several projects. We have remained very good friends".
Parolin was undersecretary between 2002 and 2009. Di Bernardo's latest plan is to lay the foundations for a new "Temple of Humanity".
In January 2015, in an interview with Il Sole 24 Ore, he said: "In 2002 I left Freemasonry for good. This decision was based on the conviction that Freemasonry, the beacon of the West, was irretrievably losing the driving force that made it a wise guide for humanity".
Di Bernardo still believes in "Masonic principles", but criticises the inability of Freemasons to interpret them in their authentic sense: "I left Freemasonry, into which I was initiated in 1961 and which had been a sure guide throughout my life, to found the International Academy of the Illuminati".
His aim was to "reform" Freemasonry by returning to its 18th century origins, dominated by "thinking elites".
So he founded the Academy of the Illuminati, but even the Illuminati are no longer enough.
So the "Temple of Humanity" and the "Academy of Dignity" were created.
Di Bernardo explains: "Dignity and Freemasonry share a reference to the esoteric tradition of humanity, which began in Greece in the 6th century BC with the Orphic Mysteries. It also includes the Rosicrucian Brotherhood and the Order of the Illuminati".
