Francis Confirms Cardinal Woelki In Post After Apostolic Visitation
Francis decided that Cologne Cardinal Rainer Wolki, 65, remains in office (September 24) but has to take a period of leave from mid-October until Lent.
Woelki has been under attack by the Oligarch’s media for more than a year. In May, Francis ordered an Apostolic Visitation of Cologne Archdicoese.
The Vatican announced, that the investigation found no evidence that Woelki acted unlawfully concerning homosexual abuse. It accuses him of “major mistakes” in communication.
Until Woelki’s return, Cologne auxiliary bishop Rold Steinhäuser leads the Archdiocese as Apostolic Administrator.
