The July 7 Eucharist will be presided over by Winnipeg Archbishop Richard Gagnon. An archdiocesan official told PillarCatholic.com (June 23) that Gagnon originally thought that the Eucharist would be held outdoors.
Previously, the Eucharist was celebrated in a tent in the park or in a music auditorium. The Masonic auditorium was built by the Grand Lodges of Manitoba and North Dakota in the shape of the Masonic square and compass logo. It seats approximately 2,000 people.
For centuries, the Masonic sect was a dangerous enemy for the Church. In modern times, popes, bishops and priests have taken over this role.
