Rare Picture: Saint Peter’s Main Altar Without Horrendous Platform

This left picture shows the altar of the Confessio and the tomb of St Peter in the Vatican's Saint Peter's Basilica without the horrendous platform which usually covers a part of the tomb.

During Vatican II, the platform was introduced in order to create a stage for the Council proceedings. It basically remained in place until today.
