A Confessor Bishop: Sodoma Supplicans Is a "Painful Example"

Monsignor Daniel Fernández, 59, the former Bishop of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, whom Francis dismissed two years ago because he didn't fall into the reigning Covid-hysteria, has declared that Francis' homosexual propaganda piece 'Sodoma supplicans' contradicts the Catholic faith (facebook.com, Amigos de Monseñor Daniel, March 9).

Officially, Monsignor Fernández, who was a successful bishop, was removed for "lack of communion" (sic) with the rest of the mediocre bishops of Puerto Rico. He was not accused of anything against faith or morals, in which case Francis would not have removed him.

On the second anniversary of his deposition, Monsignor Fernández said that 'the Church [under Francis] is going through very difficult times'. He cited as a "painful example" of the text 'Sodoma supplicans', which introduces a [pseudo-] blessing for homosexual sins.

For Monsignor Fernández, it is contradictory to claim that one can bless homosexual concubines without at the same time blessing that which makes them concubines.

"Even if one tries to interpret it differently by juggling arguments, the recent declaration does not refer to individuals, but to 'couples' in a situation of sin. In this way it intends to authorise a 'pastoral' action contrary to Catholic teaching".

And: "Jesus gave his life on the Cross to conquer sin, not to bless it."

Thank God that there are clergy willing to defend the truth. May God help them to stand their ground.

Ousted Puerto Rico Bp Fernández Torres says Fiducia Supplicans “contributes to the situation of doubt, ambiguity & confusion in the Church.” Adds “it intends to allow a ‘pastoral’ action that contradicts Catholic doctrine.”

Why was Novus Ordo not rejected by bishops world wide like Fiducia Supplicans was?
Louis IX
Because the bishops who implemented it were the bishops at VII who wanted a reformation of the liturgy.

The new liturgy had to be experienced in order to see what a disaster it turned out to be. When it comes to Fiducia supplicans, there is no mistaking what the effects will be, of blessing unrepentant sinners in their sins.

Yes, it's important to remember that NONE of the Vatican II bishops had any experience of the "new liturgy" - the Mass celebrated at the Council was the TLM [maybe with a few modifications for "concelebration"] the Novus Ordo came out Dec. 1969 - 4 years after the Council concluded. The bishops just hoped the implementation would "work itself out" But the Truth is it was engineered by ultra-Modernists …More

The bishops just hoped the implementation would "work itself out" But the Truth is it was engineered by ultra-Modernists {the tale being that they wrote it out on a napkin at a Roman coffee shop!} Another story - perhaps fictional - is Pope Paul VI wept at the changes. When he demanded who authorized this, the answer was "You Holy Father." In the end, too much work & hubris went into the banal product to turn back. Benedict XVI tried with his "reform of the reform" approach, but we saw where that got him! 🤐

@Orthocat The story goes that Paul VI wept when, in 1970, on Pentecost Monday , he went to celebrate Mass, and saw green vestments. He said to the sacristan, “But it is the octave of Pentecost,” followed by what you quoted above. I’ve always found it so ironic that the so-called “New Pentecost” resulted in the downgrading of the great solemnity it was named for. But, as I (hopefully) have gotten a but wiser, I see that it’s not ironic at all. They meant for the “New Pentecost” to fully supplant all that preceded it.
