Francis: One Strange Nomination More

Francis named on September 8 Spanish-born Archbishop Fernando Vérgez Alzaga as the President of the Vatican's Governatorato.

A Legionary of Christ, he is 76 years old. The retirement age for Curia archbishops is at 75.

Vérgez succeeds Cardinal Bertello, 78. He has been around in the Roman Curia since 1972 when the founder of the Legion of Christ wanted his people to exercise influence there, and served his masters well, adapting to whatever ideology was dominating in the Vatican.

Poor fellows.
Prayhard
He's probably blind, deaf and dumb. Good bishop for Francis therefore.

Nice cartoon.
