Swiss Bishop Marian Eleganti is criticising the Vatican for installing a prayer room for Muslims in the Vatican Apostolic Library.
He told LifeSiteNews.com on October 28 that Islam is expansive,"wants absolute dominance" and is "inherently intolerant": "It has caused Christianity to disappear everywhere."
Bishop Eleganti asked why Muslims need to pray in the Vatican when there are large mosques in Rome.
He added that conversely, one would never allow Christians to set up a chapel in Mecca, Islam's holiest site, where they could celebrate Mass.
Furthermore, Islam is "deliberately conceived in an anti-Christian sense": "It's a total polemic against Jesus' divine sonship and against his absolute significance as mediator between man and God the Father."
Islam "denies the Trinity" and "Christians worldwide suffer persecution at the hands of Muslims".
