Former Solsona Bishop Xavier Novell who resigned in August, has applied for a civil marriage.
An October 7 request was presented at the Súria Civil Registry Office. All persons who know of any legal impediment for that marriage, are now invited to make a declaration within a period of fifteen days until October 22.
Some weeks ago, Novell was seen attending Mass in Montserrat Monastery with his flame, Sílvia Caballol.
Recently, it became known that he confirmed the 38-year-old Caballol two months before his resignation by bringing her to the parish of Biosca (222 inhabitants), where the confirmation of two 14-year-old girls was scheduled.
However, the secularised local priest Fermí Manteca Rodríguez, 71, one of Novell's most public opponents, could not remember anything two months later.
