Bishop on Eucharist with Female Preacher: "No Longer in the Era of Witch Hunts"
Bishop Emeritus Raúl Vera López of Saltillo, Mexico, has rejected criticism for allowing the Anglican preacher Emilie Teresa Smith to participate as a 'concelebrant' in a Eucharist in Saltillo on 26 August. "We are no longer in the era of witch hunts and bonfires," he wrote on Facebook.
During the service, Ms Smith stood at the altar, wore a stole, whispered the words of consecration, raised her hand, joined in with parts of the Eucharistic Prayer and held up the chalice containing the Precious Blood of Christ.
This caused shock among Catholics in Mexico and internationally, with many describing it as sacrilegious.
Bishop Vera López admitted that he had been questioned by journalists about whether canonical sanctions might follow.
He dismissed accusations of sacrilege and heresy, saying that Ms Smith had long been active in human rights and pastoral work.

It’s not a “Eucharist” it’s a MASS.
Maybe we should take what they say at face value. The Novus Ordo aims more at presenting a mere commemoration of the last supper than it does a re-presentation of Calvary.
