A Key-Figure? The Cardinal Vicar of Rome, Agostino Vallini, played an important role in the resignation of Benedict XVI, according to the Italian blog Anonimi della Croce. The blog writes that Vallini has close connections with the ultra-radical German bishops and calls him one of the betrayers of Benedict XVI. He also was instrumental in the election Pope Francis.
A Pinch of Self-Righteousness: Father David Gréa, who is known in France for his pop liturgies, will abandon the priesthood. Quote: "God has called me to live in marriage." His superior, Cardinal Barbarin of Lyon, organized for Gréa a meeting with Pope Francis once he found out that he is defecting. After the meeting Gréa said, "Pope Francis listened to me with kindness and honored my step toward integrity."

Giano Piero Milano, the Vatican's chief prosecutor, has disclosed on February 18th, on the occasion of the beginning of the judicial year, that there have been reports regarding the disclosure of confidential Vatican documents. There was also a case of hacking, which resulted in data theft. Milano did not offer any details.

Luther was pressing for a substantial reform of the Church and not a Reformation that would lead to the disintegration of the unity of the Church. The fact that, at the time, his idea of reform was not able to be realized is largely due to political factors. While, originally, the reform movement was a movement of renewal within the Church, the birth of a Protestant Church is above all the result of political decisions…
