Historic church engulfed in flames in Quebec, Canada | Shalom World News A historic church in Saint-Romain, Quebec, Canada, was destroyed by a major fire on Monday evening, marking a significant loss for the small rural community. The blaze rapidly engulfed the structure, and within an hour, the church’s bell tower collapsed. Authorities say the building is likely a total loss. According to Quebec's cultural heritage records, construction of the church began in 1934. Designed by architect Joseph-Aimé Poulin, the church had long served as a spiritual and cultural landmark in the village, which is home to around 700 residents. Residents expressed deep sorrow over the destruction, noting the sacrifices made by earlier generations to build the church with limited means. “It’s extremely sad for all the families who contributed their meager resources,” one resident said. Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire, but preliminary indications suggest there is no …More
11K views · 849 reactions | One of the wonders of late medieval England? There is truly nothing else quite like the Wenhaston Doom. There are doom paintings else where in England, however, none survive in such a well preserved state. For instance, there is a great doom at St Thomas’s church in Salisbury, however, that has been extensively restored. Additionally, there are many dooms that survive in terrible condition, such as the one at Stanningfield church, also in Suffolk. One of the reasons why the Wenhaston Doom is so appealing is because of this story of its chance survival. The fortune of this story make the feeling of beholding this stunning piece of late medieval art even more overpowering. If anyone is wondering, the gaps in these paintings are the shadow of where the Rood figures would have once stood before the painting. The rood figures included Jesus on the Cross, flanked by John and Mary. Unfortunately, every single doom painting in England was destroyed at the Reformation …More

Rational people see this as pure manipulation of Markets; and the nitwits in the markets seem to actually believe it! Trump makes this announcement on a Tuesday. The 48 Hours covers Wednesday and Thursday. By Friday, maybe negotiations start, maybe they don’t., but in the meantime, MARKETS hold-the-line thinking “all will be well” when that’s simply not the case. The people I spoke with today about this told me they see this as PURE MARKET MANIPULATION. They’re gob-smacked that the so-called “experts” in the markets, are so gullible, so blind to reality, so utterly stupid, they can’t even see they’re being grossly manipulated. Unlike the folks I spoke with, I do not believe the “experts …

Saint Damien of Molokai - April 15 breski1 May 10, 2010 Father Damien or Saint Damien of Molokai, SS.CC. (Dutch: Pater Damiaan or Heilige Damiaan van Molokai; 3 January 1840 – 15 April 1889), born Jozef De Veuster, was a Roman Catholicpriest from Belgium and member of the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary,[1] a missionaryreligious order. He won recognition for his ministry to people with leprosy (also known as Hansen's disease), who had been placed under a government-sanctioned medical quarantine on the island of Moloka'i in the Kingdom of Hawai'i.[2] After sixteen years caring for the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of those in the leper colony, he eventually contracted and died of the disease, and is widely considered a "martyr of charity". He is the ninth person recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church to have lived, worked, and died in what is now the United States. In both the Latin Rite and the Eastern Rites of the Catholic Church …More

In the Mosque of Algiers on April 13, Leo XIV - after removing his shoes, as required by protocol - stood in “silent reflection” before the miḥrāb, reports VaticanNews.va. The miḥrāb is the niche in the wall that indicates the direction of Mecca. He then spoke with Imam Mohamed Mamoun al Qasimi, who was also dressed in white. According to Vatican.va, Leo XIV said that the mosque “represents the space that belongs to God; a sacred, divine space”. He prayed that "the peace and justice of the Kingdom of God may also be present among us". Picture: Vatian Media, #newsEzbzudtlfz
GREAT APOSTASY Pope Leo XIV calls Algiers mosque 'space proper … Apostasy from the Faith is defined as “the complete and voluntary abandonment of the Christian religion, whether the apostate embraces another religion such as Paganism, Judaism, Mohammedanism, etc., or merely makes profession of Naturalism, Rationalism, etc.” (Catholic Encyclopedia, s.v. “Apostasy”)
The French districts of the Priestly Fraternity of St Peter (Clavis.org, April 11) and the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (LaPorteLatine.org, April 13) have publicly clashed over planned episcopal consecrations on July 1. FSSP Position The FSSP argues that the consecrations would be illegitimate because the episcopate, by its nature, requires communion with the Pope and the body of bishops. Consecrating bishops without papal mandate therefore contradicts the Church’s divine constitution, not merely its discipline. It responds to an argument made by the FSSPX (in a technical annex), which refers to Lumen gentium in arguing that episcopal consecration does not itself confer governing authority, and therefore such consecrations would not necessarily break Church unity. The FSSP rejects this interpretation, arguing that - even if jurisdiction is not automatically given - episcopal functions can only be exercised within hierarchical communion. Acting without papal mandate leads in …More
Camus @newstart_2024 “ADHD is not a disorder of not knowing what to do. It’s a disorder of not doing what you already know.” Dr. Russell Barkley just delivered one of the clearest explanations of ADHD I’ve ever heard. He says the brain can be split in two: the back part acquires knowledge, the front part (the executive system) uses it. ADHD acts like a meat cleaver that severs the two. You already have the skills and information other people your age have. You just can’t apply them when it counts. That’s why life becomes an endless series of last-minute crises. You’re time-blind — you can only deal with what’s right in front of you. The further away a goal or deadline is, the less real it feels. The solution isn’t teaching more skills. It’s changing the environment at the exact point where the problem occurs — the “point of performance.” It’s a game-changing way to understand why traditional approaches often fail.
Today, an entire Christian family was buried in Nigeria. A father. A mother. Their children. Murdered for their faith in Jesus Christ by Fulani Muslim terrorists. The world may ignore it — but Heaven will not forget. Pray for the persecuted Church. #PrayForNigeria @ezekieldachomo0
Catholic Leaders Defend Pope and Criticize Trump After Harsh Attacks A prominent conservative bishop who serves on President Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission was among those who called on the president to apologize. nytimes.com/2026/04/13/us/trump-pope-leo.html President Trump faced a groundswell of criticism from Christians across the political spectrum on Monday for his social-media posts attacking Pope Leo XIV and depicting himself as a Jesus-like figure. Pushback was so forceful, including some from Mr. Trump’s supporters, that by late morning on Monday the Jesus image, which had been posted on the president’s social-media account, was deleted. The president’s tirade on Sunday night against Pope Leo, one week after Easter Sunday, accused him of being too liberal and “weak on crime,” and even falsely claimed credit for the pope’s election. For months, tension between the White House and the Vatican has been mounting amid the turbulence of the Trump administration’s aggressive …More
“We are working in our own small way, with our limited manpower, to bring about an Imperfect General Council that will publicly recognise the present Catholic disaster that has no way out but through,” said Father Michael Mary, head of the Congregation of the Transalpine Redemptorists, in an interview with ThePress.co.nz on 10 April. The group was expelled from the Christchurch Diocese in New Zealand in July 2024 following allegations, primarily concerning unauthorised exorcism practices. The priests denied any wrongdoing. In October 2025, the community repudiated “false shepherds” and recent papal documents without explicitly declaring the papal office vacant. Their proposed “council” would consist of bishops acting without papal authority, though no names have been given: “There are Catholics all over the world left in ‘Catholic bunkers’ who know what is going on. It is a matter of reaching out to them.” Toward Electing a "Pope"? To justify the idea, Father Michael Mary invokes …More
1. Aquinas (and St. Agustine also) said that early gestation unborn babies are vegetable and animals before becoming human. Pro-abortion Catholic President Biden and Catholic Speaker Pelosi both quoted this in their defense of early legal abortion. 2.Aquinas said that “conscience” must always be followed. This is absolutely contrary to Catholic teaching, but some people still cite this as justification for abortion. 3. Aquinas foolishly said that lying is never permissible. Imagine the classic situation that you are hiding Jews in your attic during WW2 and the Nazis ask you if you are hiding Jews. According to Aquinas you must tell the Nazis “Yes they are in the attic” which results in the murder of the Jews. Aquinas is wrong...Biblically wrong.
1. Was there clarity regarding the infusion of the soul at that time settled by the Church ? You can be sure St Thomas would have changed his opinion to be in conformity. He is obviously not infallible. 2. Conscience is "with knowledge". Plainly without knowledge would mean something different. As Catholic Doctrine is clear i.e the science exists and is clear that abortion is a grave moral evil , those who support it follow contrascience. 3. Is a bit of a straw man and obviously the action of providing information to aid evil would not be supported by Aquinas. You could truthfully hold the position that Christ determines the sons of Abraham as those who like Abraham, rejoiced at His coming. Being God, He gets to define who they are surely. What labels men choose to erroneously co-opt is their own affair. You are quite free to ignore the misdesignation without scruple. So you can with good conscience say quite truthfully there are no Jews here, thereby protecting your neighbour and avoid …More
Chay Bowes @BowesChay Pressure is building in Venezuela. Unlike China, the USA cannot fully supply Venezuela with the goods it needs. America lacks the production capacity and the supply networks required to support the entire country. The key issue is thay even with American sanctions in place, Venezuela under Maduro was still able to trade with China. They exchanged oil for products, medicines, and other essential goods on a barter basis. After relations with China broke down, inflation exploded. It reached 649.5 percent by March 2026. The International Monetary Fund expects it to go above 682 percent by the end of the year. Right now Venezuelas oil money is being sent to a special account controlled by the US Treasury. Remember that the United States has also essentially seized Venezuelas gold reserves. These moves are speeding up the collapse of the national currency. The situation is spiraling out of control.
The latest outburst from Donald J. Trump is a direct and unusually aggressive attack on Pope Leo XIV. Trump wrote on social media that Leo XIV is “weak on crime” and “a disaster in foreign policy”. “He talks about ‘fear’ of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart.” Trump does “not want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon.” “I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers and drug dealers into our Country.” “And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE …More
