When seen by my 35 y/o housemate I was offered panic and more than a little drama... then a ride to ER when color returned to her face (she proclaimed I needed to get stitches, get it sterlized, and antibiotics) It has been about 3 days since this event. Liquid styptic is for very minor cuts and scrapes on the outer surface of the skin, it wasn't made for deep wounds into the muscle and can make the injury worse by interfering with tissue knitting. If you get inflammation, that means there's an infection. A deep wound means there's a deep infection. Iodine is a topical antiseptic. It will burn like hell and clean the outer surface of the wound, doing nothing for the inflammation and again, interfering with the wound closing up.
