An executive order issued Tuesday in Maryland’s Howard County, one of the riches areas in the U.S., prohibits the consumption of food or beverage of any kind "before, during, or after religious services,” including "food" or "beverage" that is part of the liturgy.
The order is not only outlawing the distribution of Holy Communion but also the celebration of Mass, because it doesn't even allow the priest to consume the sacred species.
As could be expected, Baltimore Archdiocese's reaction was limited to expressing “serious concerns” in a bootlicking press release.
UPDATE: Howard County, Maryland, has reversed a policy that banned consumption of any food or drink during religious services, effectively preventing the licit celebration of Mass. A county spokesman told CNA May 28 the prohibition will be removed, and faith leaders will be consulted on future guidelines for church re-openings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

I didn't know of Bishop Laurie until we were fighting the HHS Mandate a few years back (adding contraceptives to federally funded health care). He is a great defender of religious freedom.

It happens in the state of Maryland, i.e. in the Land of Mary. Howard County was incorporated on May 13, (1838), on the day of Our Lady of Fatima, so the matter concerns the end times. County authorities banned the consumption of any food and drink in Catholic churches. Through this decision of the secular authorities, Our Lady tells us that we no longer have the Body of God in the churches, but only ordinary wafers and wine. It is also known that the Daily Sacrifice ceased on October 27, 2019, when Jorge the Apostate sacrificed at the Lord's altar for Pachamama in Saint Peter's in Rome.
Howard County issued this decision on May 26 (2020), on the commemoration of Saint Eleuterius, the 13th pope. This pope confirms this interpretation with his authority, because he himself "Abolished* some Jewish dietary customs for Christians." It has been the custom of Catholics to eat the Lord's Body, but now there is only wheat wafer (sometimes also wine).

If tithing-boycotts became a mainstream form of Catholic protest, the official reaction would be more than just a mildly-worded "serious concern". ;-)
