Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who is [theoretically] second in the Vatican's hierarchy of power, told reporters on 20 June that former US nuncio, Monsignor Carlo Maria Viganò must answer for his public attitudes and actions.
"I am very sorry because I have always appreciated him as a great worker, very faithful to the Holy See, someone who was also, in a certain sense, an example. When he was apostolic nuncio he did a good job". One wonders, however, how a "great worker" could have ended up in the Vatican.
Parolin added that he allegedly didn't know what had happened to Viganò, who announced on 20 June that he had been summoned to the Vatican to answer "accusations of schism" in an email dated 11 June.
Three weeks ago, Viganò accused Francis of being a homosexual abuser.
So far, the Vatican and Viganò have reached a de facto amicable solution, as both don't want any communion with each other (mutual excommunication).

Kardinaal Vigano is diep gelovig en wil alleen het goede met de Rooms Katholiek kerk en het Rooms Katholieke geloof. Natuurlijk heeft Vigano geen respect voor een ketterse en homoseksuele paus Franciscus. De organisatie van de Rooms Katholieke kerk is ernstig ziek en stervende, veel ketters, veel homoseksuelen en veel en veel teveel geld. Beminde gelovigen als u de Rooms Katholieke kerk wil helpen, geef dan geen geen geld meer aan de reguliere Rooms Katholieke kerk. Dat is de enige manier om de organisatie van de Rooms Katholieke weer gezond te krijgen. Als u geld wil geven, geeft dit dan aan de Sint Petrus broederschap of de Sint Pius X broederschap.

The fact that Vigano showed up for his "trial" shows that he acknowledges that the Vatican has authority over him.

Vigano didn't go to the Vatican to defend himself. He went there to double down on his position and effectively plead 'guilty'.
