Francis transferred Archbishop Laurent Ulrich, 70, from Lille (2008-2022) to Paris confirming earlier information.
His predecessor, Archbishop Aupetit, 71, (2018-2021), a medical doctor, retired less than five months ago after a controversial relationship with a woman a decade ago.
Ulrich has been a past vice-president of France's bishops. He is a vocal advocate for illegal immigration who insults those who criticise this irresponsible policy as “xenophobic.”
