A scheduled meeting between Francis and Moscow Patriarch Kirill for June in Jerusalem has been cancelled, Francis told LaNación.com.ar (April 21).
Francis blamed others saying that the Vatican's “diplomatic team” understood that such a meeting "at this time could lead to much confusion." He added that “personally,” he seeks dialogue and mutual understanding or agreement instead of conflict [like in the case of Traditionis Custodes].
Further, Francis will not visit Kyiv while war rages, “What good would it do for the pope to go to Kyiv if the war were to continue the next day?”
