There were 105 ordinations in France this year, compared to 88 in 2023. Jean-Pierre Maugendre of Renaissance catholique has looked into the details.
- The newly ordained in France are not necessarily French priests, but priests ordained "to exercise their ministry in France".
- At the ordination of Abbé Eric Nziraguseswa in Saint-Pierre Cathedral in Rennes, which was 3/4 empty on Sunday 30 June, many of the clergy present were Africans.
- In France there are about 100 ordinations per year compared to 600/800 deaths.
- 12 priests were ordained for apostolic communities of the Roman rite: 7 (St Pius X), 4 (Christ the High Priest) and 1 (St Peter).
- The priest ordained for Bon Pasteur is a Colombian.
