Sarah: Sodoma Supplicans Is a "Heresy" That Seriously Undermines The Church
Cardinal Robert Sarah has wrongly accused "some media" of claiming that the Church encourages to [pseudo] bless homosexual sin (Diakonos.be, 8 January). Sarah insinuated that "they are lying".
In reality, the problem is not with the media but with Francis and the Vatican. At least Sarah admits that "some bishops [e.g. Francis] do the same, sowing doubt and scandal in the souls of the faithful by claiming to bless homosexual unions as if they were legitimate, in accordance with nature created by God, as if they could lead to holiness and human happiness".
Sarah at least acknowledges that Tucho's recent statement, approved by Francis, "has failed to correct these errors and set the record straight".
The statement has only served to "increase the confusion" in the hearts of the people. Some have even used it "to support their attempts at manipulation".
His response to people involved in homosexual sin is to show them the first mercy by revealing to them "the objective truth of their actions".
"The only thing we can ask of people in an unnatural relationship is that they be converted and conformed to the Word of God."
Sarah thanks the Episcopal Conferences that have carried out this work of truth, especially those of Cameroon, Chad, Nigeria and others, whose "firm opposition to the statement Fiducia supplicans I share and make my own".
The Cardinal encourages other national or regional Episcopal Conferences and every Bishop to do the same.
In doing so, Sarah argues, they are "not opposing" Francis, but "a heresy that seriously undermines the Church".
Sarah warns that the confusion caused by the propaganda piece "Fiducia supplicans" could reappear at the second meeting of the Synod of Bishops in 2024 under different, more subtle and hidden wording.
