Montecassino: Vatican Provides "Reasons"

KNA.de has listed reasons why Francis rejected the election of Father Mauritius Wilde, 56, as abbot of the Italian Benedictine monastery of Montecassino.

The first reason is ridiculous: the Congregation of Bishops and the Congregation of Religious did not agree at first on who was responsible for a confirmation of the election.

Secondly, Montecassino is a territorial abbey with parishes and the abbot is a member of the bishops' conference. But the Concordat and the Lateran Treaties are interpreted to mean that only an Italian citizen may head an Italian diocese.

Thirdly, no foreigner may dispose of the money that comes from the Italian state budget via the 0.8% cultural tax.

According to KNA.de, it was unlikely from the outset that a non-Italian could become abbot of Montecassino. A similar attempt had already failed in 2014.

Conclusion: Excuses can always be found.

If he was gay like the Francis Vatican, he'd been confirmed as abbot and made a Cardinal too.

If he was previously prior at San Anselmo in Rome, (not a traditional or even orthodox Benedictine abbey), then he was not a traditionalist. So that could not be the reason for his rejection by Francis. The first reason sounds like no one in the Vatican knows what they are doing. The second and third sound perfectly reasonable.
I'll bet though, if he had been 100% pro-gay, he'd be approved happilly …More
