@mystic, our hideous modern church recently went from comfortable individual chairs to fabric-seated wooden pews, thanks mostly to one wealthy patron. Hopefully your chairs arent easily stackable in order to make way for (humble) dining or a disco party.
If they don't sell the church, they might sell the uncomfortable wooden kneeling benches as they did in the same diocese in a catholic church Xaverius close by Utrecht in Amersfoort. Here is a picture before and after. I took the last picture last Friday (look at the comfortable chairs now). Better sitting comfort and an improvement respect to the way the catholic mass was performed in older times …More

So they are quickly loosing the spirit of Catholicism I would judge.
