Leo XIV Moved to Tears at Inauguration Eucharist

During the Inauguration Eucharist, Leo XIV got visibly emotional when the crowd chanted “Many more years” in Greek.

He was then brought to tears when he received the Fisherman’s Ring from Cardinal Antonio Luis Tagle.

Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo Besungu prayed that Leo XIV would worthily exercise his high ministry in accordance with the charism he has received.

During his homily, Leo XIV said that the world is wounded by "hatred, violence, prejudice, the fear of difference and an economic paradigm that exploits the Earth’s resources and marginalizes the poorest."

"I would like that our first great desire be for the united Church, a sign of Unity and Communion which becomes leaven for a reconciled world."

And, "Peter must shepherd the flock without ever yielding to the temptation to be an autocrat, lording it over those entrusted to him. On the contrary, he is called to serve the faith of his brothers and sisters, and to walk along side them."

Pope Leo at his Inaugural Mass, in a subtle reference to his predecessor, says “Peter (the Pope) must shepherd the flock without ever yielding to the temptation to be an autocrat, lording it over those entrusted to him."

1254

Entirely laudable sentiments but it follows that one may have to correct the errors of the autocratic predecessor in order to fully extricate oneself from that temptation.

He said that at the papal conclave, “the Holy Spirit was able to bring us into harmony,” the pope said. “I was chosen without any merit of my own. And now, with fear and trembling, I come to you as a brother, who desires to be a servant of your faith and your joy.”

Do you believe that? God bless you!

This inauguration was simpler than Francis's, which hardly seems possible. No red crosses, ferula, simpler chairs, no raised dias or canopy, no golden chasubles.

So, he spoke in favor of liberation theology and collegiality/democracy in the “church.” But he cried, so it’s all traditional. That’s my take.

I think he is following Francis' footsteps - both lessening traditional attire, etc., and subtly removing the reverence of the papal office under the guise of humility. There are a lot of NO Catholics who swallowed the whole humility act that Francis put forth.

I am waiting for the new pope to remove restrictions on TLM and other Latin rites (Dominican, Carmelite, and Carthusian).

Liberation Theology was considered heretical under Pope John Paul II.
Pope Bergoglio promoted clergy who favored Liberation Theology and Marxism.
It is my understanding that Catholicism and Marxism are opposing "theologies".

@Mike the Pike Don't hold your breath! Unless of course you are taking scuba lessons! God bless you!

@Mike the Pike Have you ever considered the fact that with the Vatican Moscow agreement the Bolshevik's have entered into the Citadel and now control the offices/buildings? Latin America has now become a Bolshevik breeding ground! God bless you!

Peter cried after denying our Lord.

So true as we all should! But do not lose hope turn to the Little Flower Saint Therese' in your misery and she will shower you with her Heavenly Roses! God bless you!

"Peter must shepherd the flock without ever yielding to the temptation to be an autocrat, lording it over those entrusted to him." Wow - we haven't had that for, oh I don't know, maybe 12 years?

When you see the crowd in the square, ladies with uncombed and uncovered heads, saying the intercessions, even priests wearing baseball hats during consecration, one would think a bit of lording would be apropriate.

@SHJ-IHM Maybe more then 12 years, maybe 75 years! God bless you!

Any tears for Jesus' suffering over huge betrayal of His sacred servants? Any tears over millions of souls lost to false teachings?

Crocodile tears for us! God bless you!
