Instead of serving unity it could lead Catholics away from the Church as their needs are not met, Warsaw Cardinal Kazimierz Nycz, Poland, told Polish agency KAI.pl (October 22) about Traditionis custodes after his Ad Limina visit.
The Polish bishops asked the Congregation for a permission to celebrate the Roman Mass in parish churches and to expand the celebration of this rite in Poland if needed.
The Congregation replied that they wish to interpret TC in an "expansive" way, “more according to the spirit than the letter of the law”.
Nycz added that the general rule is that priests who were permitted to celebrate the Roman Mass during Benedict XVI's pontificate [= all priests] should still be able to do so, and newly ordained should seek permission from the Vatican (which since TC was denied on request).
