The Vatican [= Francis] has already withdrawn a stamp that was presented by its philatelic office on May 11 and of which 450,000 copies were to be produced.
The stamp shows Francis leading a group of young people towards World Youth Day 2023. In the background is Lisbon's Padrão dos Descobrimentos (Monument of the Discoveries) which is dedicated to Henry the Navigator (+1460).
At the launch of the stamp, the Vatican said that Francis was leading young people as Henry led his crew to discover the New World.
The oligarchs' media propaganda claimed that the statue "romanticised" Portuguese exploration, which may or may not be true, but is not a reason to withdraw the stamp.
