Yes I've heard this argument from evangelical Protestant friends: they don't need a "man-made" system to approach God, they go directly to Jesus b/c he's their "personal Savior" Unfortunately, modern prelates have lent credence to this by stressing the faith as a relationship with Jesus (which it is) to the detriment of following rules (which are necessary - i.e. "Jesus said, 'If you love me, keep my commandments.'").

@Orthocat Modern prelates have also turned the Sacraments of Initiation into “communal symbolic activities,” and Confession into a way to “get stuff off of your chest.” Extreme Unction is just a magic way to get someone into heaven just before they die. There can’t be a proper relationship with Christ if there is not a proper celebration of the Sacraments, which are the ways we literally meet Christ.
