English Version of Celibacy Book Will Be Published With Benedict XVI's "Co-Authorship"
Ignatius Press which publishes the English version of Benedict XVI/Sarah’s book on celibacy "as we received it from the French publisher Fayard" naming Benedict XVI as co-author. Introduction and conclusion are presented as co-signed by both.
In a January 14 press statement, Ignatius Press’s President Mark Brumley explained that “according to Benedict XVI’s correspondence and Cardinal Sarah’s statement, the two men collaborated on this book for several months.”
Brumley refers to the Chicago Manual of Style that defines a joint work as “a work prepared by two or more authors with the intention that their contribution be merged into inseparable or interdependent parts of a unitary whole”.
Thus Ignatius Press considers the given texts a coauthored publication.
Ignatius Press' Founder Father Joseph Fessio, a Ratzinger disciple, told EWTN (video below) that the book is written to support of Francis, "In fact they quote him very, very positively in the book."
