The parish church was closed in 2013. The church, school, and convent were sold in 2022 for development as a downtown Islamic center.

This story is not to be missed - we must be "wise as serpents and innocent as doves" in keeping the demonic enemies out of these sacred spaces built by so many faithful Catholics to honor Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ - and offer true worship the the Blessed Trinity.

What should happen in such cases: if a private corp buys the building first, then the SSPX can purchase the church from them - even if the diocesan bishop opposes: youtube.com/watch?v=WyE-Xa7yfIM
Also, do not let the ultimate plan be known to the diocesan bishop who will block this rescue mission if it is known beforehand.

It happened in Boston that a beautiful church was sold to a photographer, I think. He turned around and sold it to a Brazilian evangelical church. Another church was sold to a developer, and subsequently taken over by a sedevacantist group. They have undertaken a beautiful restoration of the church over the past 15 or 20 years. Agreed - this will and is impacting all of us - but we must Fight, Fight, Fight! - and do what we can - and not just roll over! My family was living in Pittsburgh when St. James was restored - what a glorious event - pray for the SSPX and for the former Ecclesia Dei communities to remain firm!

@DrMaria I can tell you that it has been tried, once with success until Rome caught wind of it. Now it can’t be done that way. That is what I was told when I made that very same suggestion.

The secret is NOT to let anyone know what is going on - do not spill the beans on the ultimate plan! We are in a war - and have to think like soldiers fighting the enemy.

This is true. There is a legal stipulation that says no third party or something to that effect. I forget. It has been twenty years since this conversation took place.

It reminds me how "saint" John Paul II supported the construction of the great mosque in Rome (the largest one in Western Europe at that time).
But no, they think Bergoglio appeared out of nowhere.

The SSPX tried to purchase St. James Catholic Church in Grand Rapids, and the diocese refused. It now sits on the market empty.

They should have followed Mother Angelica's advice when the U.S. bishops threatened to forcibly acquire EWTN: "I'd blow it up before letting them get their hands on it!"

"56. It is rather a matter of being more vividly aware of the relationship which binds the Church to the Jewish people and of Israel's unique role in salvation history. As was already clear from the First Special Assembly for Europe of the Synod of Bishops, and was reaffirmed in the latest Synod, there is need for acknowledgment of the common roots linking Christianity and the Jewish people, who are called by God to a covenant which remains irrevocable (cf. Rom 11:29) (101) and has attained definitive fullness in Christ."
but let the Church and God judge him.
