Among the journalists are Elisabetta Piqué (La Nación), Hendro Munstermann (Nederlands Dagblad), Christopher Lamb (The Tablet), Gerard O'Connell (America Magazine) and Juan Vicente Boo (ABC.es).
They refer to an "anonymous person close to Joseph Ratzinger" claiming that Benedict never saw or approved the book but only gave Cardinal Sarah an essay on the priesthood that he had been working on.
The publisher of the book's English version, Father Joseph Fessio, responded to the rumours. He wrote to CatholicNewsAgency.com that Sarah told Ignatius Press that the chapters by Ratzinger are from Ratzinger, “We take his word for it.”
