Devin Pope, a professor of behavioural science and economics at the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business, analysed cellphone data to compare the frequency of religious attendance with self-reported attendance (Twitter.com, July 15).
Protestants according to cellphone data
35.9% of Americans: at least once a year.
2.4%: almost weekly
The vast majority of almost weekly attenders in the US are Protestants (85%).
Catholics
8.7%: at least once a year.
4.6% say they to attend Sunday Mass weekly but only 0.17% actually do so Other religions show similar results. Pope concludes that people over-report the frequency of their religious attendance. Maar helaas zowel in de Protestantse als de Rooms Katholieke Tweede Vaticaanse Concilie kerk zijn uitsluitend kerkgangers die ouder zijn dan 60 jaar en over 20 jaar niet meer op deze aarde zijn.
Einde beide kerkgenootschappen. Alleen de Traditionele Universele Tridentijnse Romeinse Rooms Katholieke kerk zal overleven, omdat meer dan 40 % van de kerkgangers jonger dan 20 jaar is.
