Francis accepted on September 7 the resignation of Bishop-elect Michel Mulloy of Duluth, USA, prior to his October 1 consecration.
A former vicar general of Rapid City diocese, he was named a bishop on June 19. However, on August 7, his diocese was informed about a single "allegation“ of sexual abuse of a minor in the early 1980s which regards Mulloy.
Rapid City Diocese didn't say what the allegation is about and if it has any credibility.

It is certain that where there is a hint of anything remotely resembling a scandal, anyone in high office becomes the pawn of the powers that shouldn't be. He was no doubt wise to withdraw, rather than become a pawn in their game.

I know this Priest -we are all SHOCKED over this claim. Its suspicious as the claim is made as Fr. Mulloy is being promoted. Why was this not addressed -if true- years ago?? He is and has been a very holy and upright priest. His consul is wise and faithful. The other priests in the Diocese are shaken. I am praying the claim is false and purely vindictive.

We should all pray for him; he's perhaps been caught in the net of the people who are determined to spread rumors and scandal even where there isn't any. Does anyone ever hear of rabbis being accused of child abuse?
