Leo XIV Promotes Philippine T-Shirt Bishop: "Francis Has Led With Courage to the Right Path"

Pope Leo XIV appointed today Bishop Charlie Inzon, 59, until now Apostolic Vicar of Jolo, as Metropolitan Archbishop of Cotabato, Philippines.

He holds a doctorate in psychology.

As the superior of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate religious order, he strove to relate to people informally. OmiLacombe.ca noted that Father Charlie Inzon used his nickname, "Father Cha", even in official notices.

Monsignor Inzon was ordained as bishop in May 2020 during the Covid hysteria under strict lockdown, with only about ten attendees in the Cathedral.

He described this situation as "no thrills, no frills but plain and simple", adding: "All the essentials are present. So free. So cool."

After Francis' death, Monsignor Inzon told RadyoPilipinas.ph (April 26): "He led and guided with courage to the right path."
