“The Antarctic ice shelf area has grown by 5305 km2 since 2009, with 18 ice shelves retreating and 16 larger shelves growing in area,” according to a University of Leeds study, published in Tc.Copernicus.org (May 16). The scientists used data from the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer satellite to measure the ice between 2009 and 2019.
