No Consecration: Bishop Busy with Inter-Religion
While Francis was consecrating Russia, Verdun Bishop Jean-Paul Gusching, France, was busy at the Douaumont Ossuary, a military shrine containing the remains of combatants in the 1916 Battle of Verdun.
He was accompanied by the Imam of Verdun, Abdelkrim Aït El Kaid, and Jean-Claude Levy, a Jewish representative. At 6 p.m. of that day, they “prayed together” for peace in Ukraine.
After the disastrous Vatican II, Verdun Dioceose went from 319 to presently 43 priests. All male religious died out. Female religious went from 380 to 32.
