Pope Leo XIV was the first pope to travel by boat during the traditional procession on Lake Albano. He was accompanied by a good dozen boats. During the trip, he waved and blessed the people on the shore and on the lake. The trip was accompanied by music and meditations. After about half an hour, the pope’s boat docked again at the shore.

On August 28, the U.S. Justice Department released a 231-page report on the FBI’s 2023 Richmond Catholic memo, including evidence of surveillance of traditionalist Catholic clergy. Today, Leo XIV appointed Auxiliary Bishop Lizardo Estrada Herrera O.S.A., 52, of Cuzco, Peru, as the Coadjutor Archbishop of the same Archdiocese. He will thus be the successor to Archbishop Richard Daniel Alarcón Urrutia, 74. Just two weeks ago, the new Archbishop offered to the idol Pachamama. Leo XIV Personally Formed Estrada Born in Cotabambas in 1973, Monsignor Estrada joined the Augustinians and was ordained a priest in 2005. Pope Francis appointed Estrada auxiliary bishop of Cuzco in January 2021. Worse than Germany: A memorial ceremony for Buddhist woman Marta Pezzati, 59, was held on August 20 in the Catholic Church of San Martino in Rebbio, Como, Italy. Pezzati was president of the volunteer association Como Accoglie and was well known locally for her work assisting migrants and refugees.
