The Novus Ordo could never become the norm for Liturgy. Pius V's Quo Primum sealed the Tridentine Mass as the liturgy in perpetuity. Issued by Pius as an Apostoli Constitution canonically placed it almost on a par with an infallible statement-- some, indeed, argue it had that status but the dogma of infallibility had yet to be pronounced till Pius IX-- who prayed the TRIDENTINE liturgy. I was already a Priest when Ratzinger was a "liberal" peritus-- he slowly changed his outlook, but he was not forceful enough with the masonic mob in the Vatican when he became Pope. I would have reversed the sludge the Vatican 2 sect ushered in, quite frankly. It seems one needs what they call in Brooklyn "a set of cajones" to break the backs of those seeking to Protestantize (i.e., downgrade) the Church. Josef Ratzinger will have to answer for his Papacy before the throne of God, Bergoglio before the seat of Lucifer.

God Bless Pope Benedict XVI. Despite his participation in the Vatican II which tried to destroy the Church, and despite his acknowledgement of the Novus Ordo as the authorized form of the Mass, he did try to bring back SOME traditions of the Catholic Church, and even of the Papacy (regarding vestments, etc.) Had he stayed on, which originally he was going to, there was talk in 2011-2012 that because of leg difficulties, Benedict XVI was thinking of bringing back the Sedia Gestatoria, and even Caridnal Bertone urged him to do so. But liberals objected.
But he did give us "Summorum Pontificum", and even though evil Pope Francis and his people tried to destroy it with "Traditiones Custodes", etc., they failed. The Roman Rite is growing faster.
So despite his flaws, and his liberal outlook during Vatican II, in the later parts of his life he did recognize the errors of Vatican II in many areas, and even criticized them.

One problem with Canon Law is that it changes. E.g., the Piobenedictine code made illegitimacy an impediment to Holy Orders, That was in 1919. Karol Woytyla in his papacy's changes to canon law eliminated the impediment. At any point Canon Law could declare the papacy as just one more court or jurisdiction, so that the Pope is not the absolute judge. After observing Gordo Bergoglio's rule there are those who would want canonically to eliminate the "absolute" judge from the Pope's office.

"There is always two sides to the story." Fr. Pavone's side is the only side. Nuncio Pierre, Pope Francis etc.....the Vatican side is just a pile of B.S.
