Absurd Italy: Free Contraceptive Pill to Boost Birth Rate

Italy’s “right-wing” Meloni government which is undistinguishable from “left-wing” governments in Europe, has introduced tax incentives for families to increase the country's disastrous birth-rate.

That was on April 21. One day later, the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa) decided to make the contraceptive pill free for women of all ages. This will cost the state around €140M a year.

FaroDiRoma.it (April 22) comments, “The first step for the new birth rate policy is free contraceptive pills for all, a very clear signal.”

The question is to what extent the authority for medical drugs is independent and whether Ms. Meloni can issue or revoke instructions at all.

I have no doubt Meloni has many enemies including (Aifa) & they would pay big money to quash any decent intensive she offers.

First of all, a question: is this state agency, "the Italian Medicines Agency (Aifa)", under the direction of Meloni, or is it a body that operates independently? It's to say, is it The Deep State?
