Pope Leo XIV appointed today the first Archbishop in the English-speaking world, possibly a future Cardinal: Bishop Shane Mackinlay, 60, is the new Archbishop of Brisbane, Australia.
Francis chose Monsignor Mackinlay to attend the Vatican synods in 2023 and 2024 and handpicked him to help with the drafting of the final document. He supports the ordination of women and homosexual ideology.
In October 2023, Mackinlay told NcrOnline.org that he is "glad" about the discussions on invalid ordination of women: "And if it were to be that the outcome was for ordination to the diaconate to be open to women, I'd certainly welcome that."
