Italian media activist and millionaire Eugenio Scalfari, 98, who started his career as a Fascist and always managed to adapt to the establishment, died July 14. He was a livelong atheist, Church hater and amateur philosopher but - being the opportunist he was - "found" his way back to the faith in the end according to FaroDiRoma (14 July).
Scalfari was a frequent interviewer of Francis to whom, unlike the cardinals, he had direct access. During those interviews, Francis denied hell, Christ's divinity, and his resurrection.
After Scalfari had published these statements, the Vatican press office usually presented some denials that were implausible because Francis continued to give interviews to the millionaire.
In 2020, Francis referred to Scalfari as “mummy.”

Bergoglio accompanied the anti-Catholic apostate atheist Eugenio Scalfari in his obstinacy in denying God and in his hatred of fighting the Church.

And the blame for the loss of his soul can be attributed directly to Bergoglio who confirmed him in his rejection of God. The Bible clearly says that he who does not believe is condemned and that outside of Heaven are the unbelievers. Scalfari sinned against God Himself.

Pope Francis never personally denied the statements that were quoted during the interviews by his friend Scalfari.

He didn't deny them, because he believes them. How could these Cardinals, after such interviews where a Pope denied there is Hell, that Christ is God, and that Christ rose from the dead be allowed to stay in office. That's why so much I admire Islam, where at least in observant countries their faith guides them every day, and if someone denies the tenents of the faith, they would really suffer, even death. The Greek Orthodox don't tolerate heresy either. But Catholics, the general attitude since VAtican II is that "anything goes", and if the Faith is insulted or defamed, "who cares"? Even if it's a "pope".

I agree, he didn't deny or correct or protest the publication b/c that's what he said. In addition, a high profile public persona never gives an interview knowing it's going to be published without consent. No doubt these private opinions are heretical and the bishops except for a couple of them didn't even call him out on it.

May God have mercy on his soul.

Unfortunately for him, the dogma of Hell says that he who dies in Mortal Sin is damned.

The final impenitence and obstinacy Sin is the fault of the sinner himself who rejects the Grace of the Holy Spirit.

The sinner must show signs of repentance before he dies. And that is the teaching of the Catholic Church whether you like it or not, read St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori (Bishop, Doctor of the Church)
