The false translation of the Our Father introduced into Italy “and do not abandon us into temptation” was imposed by Pope Francis, Sandro Magister reports (December 6).
The Italian bishops discussed the translation in their November 14 plenary assembly. A few bishops defended the original text contained in the Gospel “and lead us not into temptation”. But they were “quickly hushed” from the moderator’s bench.
They were told that the correct version “and do not lead us into temptation” would have to be replaced no matter what, because “it was decided so.”
Magister comments, “The thoughts of everybody in the hall went to Pope Francis.”

If only it were possible for ‘you know who’ to simply give it a rest for a week or two or even a few months. When Bible Only Thumpers correct the visible head of the Catholic Church, there is something seriously wrong here. Actually, I would prefer if his focus was back to his Marxist ruminations on climate change, the evils of capitalism and illegal immigration rather than to demonstrate his own (and by extension the Church’s) ineptitude for matters theological.

In both Matthew and Luke, Jesus is led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit “to be tempted by the devil”. Again, even if the Devil is the instrument of temptation, the Gospel is very clear that God plays an executive role in making Jesus face that temptation. It is only two chapters later in Matthew when Jesus urges his followers to pray that they avoid the same situation, praying to God that he not lead them into temptation as Jesus was led.

@Holy Cannoli> Thanks for the explanation of...."Lead us not into temptation" I hadn't heard this before, shows my lack of biblical learning as well as Francis's.

I heard a good comment about this that makes sense. Since thy are trying to make God look better by this translation is it any better that God would "abandon" us to temptation then for him not to "Lead" us. As a good friend of mine KL would say "Good Grief".

Francis really does see himself as God

Just ignore this arrogant pope on St Peter's chair, he is a very bad man.

Just wait a bit more, in Spanish they say: Dios te salve Maria, llena eres de gracia. So translated in a few years we are obliged to pray: God hails you Mary full of grace, substituting Hail Mary full of grace.
Because as they reason: Who are you to salut the queen of the heavens?

OBL encourages the faithful, as well as past traditional Popes, to proffer salutations. The most notable being, ....."Many nations will call me Blessed." And at Fatima, "I am the Immaculate Conception". and of course, "Mother of GOD".

A Catholic has to try ignore Francis, support traditional priests, and offer prayer in reparation for his errors.
