Cardinal Müller: Francis Is "No Heretic" - He Is "Orthodox”

Cardinal Gerhard Müller has repeated his implausible theory according to which Pope Francis is a victim of those he keeps surrounding himself with.

Müller told the anti-Catholic fake-news magazine Spiegel (February 15) that Pope Francis allows himself to be “dependent” upon his counselors who have “base motives”. Müller did not say which counselors he means.

According to Müller, Francis “is surrounded” by people who “have little understanding of theology”. The cardinal calls them “courtiers”. Francis' closest collaborator is Cardinal Parolin.

Asked whether Francis is a heretic, Müller replied, “No. This Pope is orthodox.”

With in a day or two of his manifesto Cdl. Muller is back to defending the indefensible. When the time comes to 'stand by Our Blessed Lord' will he be amongst the few that CHRIST finds when he returns???

You have to de declared a heretic and Francis has yet to be. So he is correct in that statement is he not? As regard which Pope he is referring to when he says "this pope is orthodox" I'm unclear. He could have been pointing at a picture of Pius X on the wall when he said that. He did not say "Pope Francis is orthodox". The reality is that people are not giving straight answers that make clear use of subjects, objects and adjectives. The reality is there is a lack of clarity in what Cardinal Muller has said so I'm not sure to whom he is referring. The reality is that Francis has not been declared a heretic and therefore no one can label him so. The reality is that Francis does surround himself with very questionable people who know very little about God. Yes I'm happy to defend Cardinal Muller on the basis that he has made a clear and unambiguous public act of Faith that shows he is a brother in Christ. Charity is therefore demanded that requires one to assess what he says in the best light trusting that he knows what he needs to say and do in the circumstances.

I don't need anybody wearing a cassock to tell me that unrepentant adulterers receiving Communion (Amoris Laetitia) is heretical. Or worse, that some German (who else) declared him "orthodox." Of course maybe he was pointing at a picture of St. Pius X.

Letting you know all of that, plainly and unequivocally without legalisms and nuance? THAT is genuine charity.

Maybe he is Orthodox. Obviously Francis does not accept papal infallibility nor papal authority if he is pushing a synodal idea. That would make him like the eastern orthodox wouldn't it? Although I don't know how a pope could be in schism ... unless.... :-).

Self-deception? General denial? Simple dishonesty?
He knows how to work the board. While utterly disgusting, he has to survive in order to have a voice.
