Gaslighting: Singapore Cardinal Calls on Traditionalists to "Surrender"

"We all desire progress, but this cannot be possible without change," wrote Cardinal William Goh of Singapore in his Sunday homily, published on July 5 on Catholic.sg. Cardinal Goh, a conservative, has so far been supportive to Catholics of the Roman rite.
However, in his new homily, he calls for adapting to changing situations. "We cannot remain where we are when the times have changed."
The key part, which was published in bold in the original article and excerpted by the Cardinal on X.com, is surprisingly critical of [anonymous] Catholics:
"The danger with traditionalists is that in their desire to remain true to the past, they forget that fidelity to the past requires change. The irony is that not changing is being unfaithful to our past. Simply sticking to past practices by merely repeating them would be a sign of infidelity. Instead, fidelity to the past means fidelity to the original principles that led to certain practices and rules. While the expression must change according to …More

The danger with modernist heretics is that “CHANGE” IS their religion… immutable truth, the apostolic deposit of faith, liturgy from time immemorial, and Tradition do not and cannot exist for them. Anathema sit!

Wilma Lopez shares this

“…fidelity to the past requires change” Fidelity to the past is fidelity to the present and fidelity to the future. Fidelity is unchanging.

Most of us just want a reverent Mass.

A great example of cognitive dissonance where hardened dissenters tell others to be 'docile' & 'submissive' to novelty and innovation!

Hebrews 13, 8. "Jesus Christus heri, et hodie: ipse et in saecula."

So correct @Wilma Lopez. It is sheer bafflegab to frame fidelity as a tree the roots of which can be ignored or cut away for the sake of 'new growth'.

It never stopped evolving and adapting. Here the 2021 version of the extraordinary form.

It is so striking that so many Church leaders show more fidelity to the word "progress"(as innocuously unclear, and purposely so, that term is) than they do to the Word. Our Lord preached about many salvific things but "progress" wasn't one of them.

foward

Iesus heri, hodie et semper!

V.R.S.

Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, he that was about to betray him, said: Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

So the Catholic Church renouncing Her Treasures and Her Liturgy sanctified by centuries of Saints in exchange for a man-centered imposture thrown together by a Masonic enemy is "progress"...? Reminds me of satan gaslighting Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. Absolutely evil.... we're just supposed to turn off our brains and follow the Church to its ruin like lemmings. Come Lord Jesus! Maranatha!

Beware - what the cardinal is suggesting is a denial of the truth proclaimed by Christ and therefore HERETICAL!

The real danger is with heretics....not traditionalists (real Catholics). Always has been!!! Just study 2000 years of Church history. The saints of history were all tradionalists at a very high level....God bless them!!!
The heretics of history now.... in Hell.... if they did not repent of that mortal sin.

We must refuse to surrender to heretical teachings!!!

God doesn’t change and it is all about God.

I think I understand; We Catholics need to change and become more like protestants, Hindus, Muslins, Jews, etc. I get it now. Thanks, Cardinal!

What a moron.

"The danger with traditionalists is that in their desire to remain true to the past, they forget that fidelity to the past requires change”
That quote could have been pulled from a George Orwell or Ayn Rand novel— or maybe even a Kamala Harris speech.

Or Luther, or Calvin, or Henry VIII, or Zwingli…

Well said. One of our political parties is called the Progressive Conservative...and it has bowed down and kowtowed to every weird idea pushed out by the other parties.. ..the result being? No progress..just following never leading, .....just meowing never speaking out....what a sad case

Most converts change from his position to tradition. That's a change not allowed though you see. Change to unchanging bad , change to changing good. In the future though the constant changing (being constant) will itself be embraced as a tradition in itself at which point the poor brain of illogical Cardinal Goh will self-combust.

Is it true we "ALL" desire progress? In my lifetime "progress" has been a nightmare. Does scripture instruct us to "change with the times"? How is it a given that we MUST change? Does what was Holy in the past, cease to be Holy? Is God beyond time and space?
