US President Donald Trump announced the insanity that "the US will take over the Gaza Strip". He said at a joint press conference in Washington with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu that he wants to build a "Middle East Riviera" with no more Palestinians who are "destined" to go to Egypt or Jordan [which don't accept the Palestinians].
Auxiliary Bishop William Shomali, 74, of Jerusalem, told AgenSir.it (February 5) that it is "unthinkable to move a people against their will":
"The right and freedom of a people to live in their own land and not to be forced to leave it should not be questioned at all."
Monsignort Shomali believes that Trump and Netanyahu want to build settlements in Gaza "leaving only a small part of the Palestinians to return".

Yes, it is unthinkable....but that is what Israel has handed to the world. They have completely reduced Gaza to a bomb-ridden rubble, after first making it a walled, open-air prison for the Palestinians who lived there and were entrapped there under constant threat of death and oppression. Israel wanted the Palestinians out, so they could seize the territory, and they would never stop with their inhuman oppression of Gazans. Well, now Israel can't have it either. They first made it unlivable so they could seize it -- but now they can't have it. I hope this final ends the living hell that was Gaza for almost 100 years, and that the Palestinians will be welcomed to other regions where they can live without being surrounded by walls and Israeli military check points on their every movement. P.S. This all began when Israel was given lands seized from ancestral families in the region to establish the state of Israel in 1947-48. Once that was forced upon the region, all hope of peace was gone. Hopefully this will stop Israel's expansion and bring neutrality to the region.

@giveusthisday We have to be realistic about how we got here. Israel was given land taken away from Palestinians beginning back in 1947-48. That was the moment every hope of peace in the middle east was lost. It's completely unrealistic to say Palestinians can live -- or even want to live -- in the open air prison that was Gaza under the threat of ongoing genocide and ever-expanding Israeli incursions outside their boundaries to grab more and more land. That's why Israel wanted Gaza for THEIR OWN. Well, with Trump's proposal, the land will be owned by the United States and will be neutral territory. U.S. presence will also prevent Israel's constant expansionist overreach in the region. Palestinians have a right to a peaceful, free existence. Israel kept them imprisoned in Gaza. With US diplomacy in the Middle East they will ensure humane resettlement of Palestinians far from the oppression of Israel. Knowing Trump and his human compassion -- after he acknowledged publicly at the press briefing with Nentanyahu present all that the Palestinians have been suffering for the past 100 years-- Trump will never go ahead with the plan unless he has agreements from the surrounding Arab nations to resettle the Palestinians in what Trump himself called (I paraphrase) "several beautiful regions where they can begin a new life of freedom and peace... without having to live in constant fear of bombing and death" or even starvation when goods going into Gaza are blockaded by the Israelis. Is what Israel has done just? Absolutely not. But Gaza is now in complete rubble, and the Palestinians lived there as though they were in a walled prison (have you ever see the 35 foot walls that surrounded the strip?). They lived like prisoners. It's impossible to resolve that without just taking Gaza into United States control and resettling the Palestinians in Arab regions where they can live safe, free and unmolested. That's what Israel wanted -- but with the aim of grabbing Gaza for themselves. But with this plan, they can't have it. The U.S. will own it and the U.S. will keep in check Israel expansionism in the Middle East.
