Los Angeles Auxiliary Bishop David O’Connell has been murdered in his home, police confirmed on Sunday morning.
In his Sunday homily, Los Angeles Archbishop Gomez recalled that the two of them had presided over the Eucharist for the Sick on February 11.
“Bishop Dave began his homily by looking at the statue of the Virgin Mary and saying gently: She told me to tell you that she loves you,” Gomez recalled.
O’Connell was from Brooklodge, Glanmire in County Cork, the largest county in Ireland.
He wore the same pectoral cross as Francis. In February 2018, he claimed that “Francis gets it” because “our society has changed so much” and there are “all sorts of configurations of families now” among which O’Connell listed “gay couples raising children.”

If you listen to the clip, he doesn't say he approves of illicit family units, merely that the children in those familial configurations must be cared for.

God is the judge. I cannot believe all the condemnation here. Yes we defend the truth but usurping God’s judgement is what gives us trads a bad name. Pray instead for this man’s soul.

I hate to sound uncharitable and cruel, but this kind of thing--"our society has changed so much” and there are “all sorts of configurations of families now” among which O’Connell listed “gay couples raising children." is nothing short of making allowance for sodomy and peversion....right on the same track as Pope Francis. He obviously was very pro-gay. Although I hope not, I would not be at all surprised, if digging alittle deeper, the police and investigators will find evidence of some sort of homosexual relationship gone wrong between the late bishop, and the perpetrator of this serious crime.
