So why standing?
Well, there once was a pope who offered mass for the first time facing the crowd.
Then there once was a carrepenter who was probably not catholic. He produced an altar for that opportunity to preach facing the crowd. Of course there was none. So that altar he constructed blocked the way to the rail. Then, in order to save the day, they distributed the communion to the people standing. Then the pope, who did not want to say it was all a miserable fail, put on his pink glasses and said it was truly an extraordinary event.
Let's realize the priests are asking because the faithful are asking.
The inconvenient truth is that a posture exists that is more reverent than the "stated norm".
Why pooh-pooh reverence?

Dolan and many other prelates will not tolerate reverence towards Jesus Christ. They are probably afraid that somewhere, someone would be offended.
Standing for Communion, as with all of the innovations in the 60's, was never requested by the flock. Now the flock is speaking out...and being ignored.
Who declared standing a stated norm? And as far as where is this desire coming from? Perhaps the Sheep?

For anyone who was in doubt, Dolan is a fake. It never ceases to amaze me the people who think he is "conservative." Get your head out of the sand. All that putting his arm around peoples necks and that boisterous hardy hard har is fake. This notice about Holy Communion is bad enough, what is worse is when he goes up and down the aisle, glad handing people three and four in.....then when he gets to the sanctuary before he goes to the altar he is shaking everyone hand all over the place. He is full of himself. He is an extreme narcissist.
