There Is No Plan B. What You Never Wanted to Know About Gloria.tv

Like everyone else, Gloria.tv is looking back on some strange years - not only in a bad way. We're seeing people of all languages sign up and publish their content every day, and at an increasing rate.

Gloria.tv is special because it is not another editorial Christian news site telling others what to think. It is a social network that empowers believers themselves. Everyone can contribute. People can post, chat, like, read, communicate, make friends (we even know of some who got married through Gloria.tv) or disagree with theological opponents.

When Gloria.tv started in 2007, we ignored the economic truths that such a project would be very expensive (for our standards). But we knew that, given enough time, we could develop our own software and handle the hardware needed for a big social media. Unaffordable? ... never mind. God and our users, friends, and family would provide somehow.

We simply ignored the fact that without a big money donor - an uncle from America who never came - it would be virtually impossible to run an independent social network around the globe. This 'denial' of lack of funds has worked for 17 years! Thanks to all of you, our donors.

And yet... We can still pay the bills, but it has become increasingly difficult in recent years.

In the last decade we needed between 40,000€ and 70,000€ a year just for the data centres, servers and technical stuff. About €20,000 a year was spent on a legally required (EU) upload filter to prevent copyright infringements. Considering the size, features and output of Gloria.tv, this is all a low budget. But compared to the small average donations, the amounts required are staggering.

There is no plan B to keep Gloria.tv going financially. Gloria.tv has never been a business. We rely on the small percentage of our users who donate. If you would like to make a small (or even larger) donation this summer to provide the much needed funds, please help.

European President Ursula von der Leyen told her WEF collaborators that their “top concern” is “disinformation and misinformation.” This means that they fear the truth – and those who tell it – more than anything else.

😉 onda OK, I have just now sent my donation. Without GTV it could
be a bit boring. Of course, I pray, go to Mass, keep house, stay in contact with family and friends, etc.. And when I am caught up with everything, it is great to be able to go to my "virtual library", and to share catholic news.
[A highlight was meeting Don Reto Nay in person, too!] THANKS GTV for all your hard work!--and NO …More
