On Christmas several San Francisco churches ignored state restrictions on religious services celebrating public indoors Christmas Masses (Cal-Catholic.com, December 28).
Among them was Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone who celebrated in San Francisco Cathedral (video below). His and three other parishes Masses were live-streamed (St. Dominic, Most Holy Redeemer, Star of the Sea).
Shortly before Christmas, the city attorney’s office told the Archdiocese that indoor religious services were prohibited. Cordileone was asked to modify his last instruction which allowed such services at the pastor’s discretion.
Cordileone acknowledged the prohibition but affirmed his instruction leaving the ultimate decision to the priests and noticed that the Californian law regarding this issue is far from being clear.

Do not fear what the government can do to you but fear what will happen to you if you don't respond to what God has asked of you. Be strong, dear Archbishop. We need your guidance to be what God has created us to be.

I saw the video and I have to declare I am a doctor in the U.K. National Health Service. What this woman shows is a video of a semi rural District General hospital’s (so NOT a usually busy place even at the busiest of times) OUT PATIENT department on the 30 th of December in late afternoon. Minor injuries department is NOT a ward. And It is routine to curtail outpatient services during less demands, and more and more out patient services are organised via phone calls and other remote consulting. This allows the hospital to staff more busier areas. McMillan nurses are specially dedicated service to patients dying of cancer, providing nursing care for their physical needs and psychological support for patients and families. They are some of THE BEST nurses I have ever had the privilege to work with. It’s mainly run by volunteers and is entirely dependant on public funds and charitable donations. It’s NOT a privatisation of the NHS. (Funding of the the U.K. National Health Services, should be a matter of educated discussion however, and many healthcare professionals accept this) On this matter this woman is making her own opinion “fact”. What’s really ‘disgraceful’ ( using her own Karen emphasis) is to vilify hard working nurses who are probably at the moment the video was filmed out in the houses of dying patients as cancer doesn’t respect holidays. Finally regarding filming or taking photos inside a hospital, that is a breech of U.K. law. As it’s contrary to patient confidentiality.
Let’s face it. Judging from the tone of her journalistic expose this is a Karen, gone AWOL, and she’d stopped taking her antipsychotic meds on her own accord. She went picking a fight ( probably there’s a backstory to this of a parking violation perhaps in the hospital car park? Or she’d been told that her Bunion doesn’t count as an emergency?) with the hospital using social media, and when confronted by some overweight underpaid security guard of an ethnic minority - they all are in all the hospitals I’ve ever worked at - she’d have gone full vigano. And got arrested.
Hope she gets the opportunity to reflect on her idiocy.

The Urgent Treatment Center is a General Practitioner led walk in center. And it looks pretty packed for a late afternoon. The man shooting the video didn’t show the Accident and Emergency department Majors section (probably because he’d get arrested). Where I used to routinely treat gunshot victims stabbing victims on a regular basis (specially during the festive season). One of my gun shot patients got shot inside the hospital, on his bed, after we successfully resuscitated him.
A hospital’s busyness cannot be evaluated by a muppet with a camera and a big mouth and a small pea sized brain.
Come work with me for a day to get a better idea?
People are afraid of coming to hospitals thinking they’d catch Covid-19. Anyone at A&E is genuinely there now for a medical need, not just because their little pinky got caught in a car door, or they ran out of contraceptive pills and are urgently planing on having sex that evening.
I didn’t realise @Our Lady of Sorrows is a crusader against the NHS

Even with such distancing, it wasn't full. I wonder if they will face repercussions...by the local government OR the big boss. This arrangement is safe and respectful of guidelines, so good for him.
