At an October 17 opening Eucharist for the Diocesan Synod in the Queen of Angels Church, Riverside, San Bernardino Diocese, California, Tezcatlipoca, the Aztec jaguar demon, was present (picture).
Michael Hichborn of LepantoIn.org speaks of an “abominable Aztec Mass” explaining that this kind of phenomenons doesn’t happen spontaneously but is coordinated and arranged, "Someone knew about the darkest of the Aztec gods represented in the jaguar costume."

I believe that missionaries were given some freedom to adjust rituals to appear to include local beliefs to better gain regional acceptance of the church.
The timeline for that most, usually preceded even building the a stone church.

Aside from that.... I had to refresh my knowledge on the Jaguar Warrior idol in Aztec lore. Yes, there are pictures which depict the jaguar in many forms... and some appear to be similar to the cartoonish depictions of demons. However, from my understandings, these were not common and are later andromorphic representations similar to this
