On June 30, Leo XIV appointed Bishop Marco Mellino as Secretary of the Dicastery for Legislative Texts. Until now, Mellino was the deputy secretary of the same Dicastery. He was one of the principal canon-law officials of Francis' Curial reform. Born in 1966 in Canale (Piedmont), Mellino was ordained a priest in 1991 and earned his licentiate (1999) and doctorate (2000) in canon law at the Pontifical Lateran University. Defending Amoris Laetitia In January 2018, Mellino defended the controversial Chapter VIII of Amoris laetitia about giving Communion to adulterers in an article entitled 'La comunione ad alcuni fedeli in situazione irregolare' (Communion for some members of the faithful in an irregular situation). Mellino belongs to the same canon-law milieu as Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, the principal Vatican defender of Amoris laetitia. In October 2018, Francis appointed Mellino as Bishop and Secretary of the Council of Cardinals (the "C9"). Creating a "Synodal Church" Monsignor …More

Saint Swithun - July 2 Also known as Swithin Svithin Memorial 2 July 15 July (translation of relics) Profile Raised in an abbey. Priest. Chaplain to Egbert, King of the West Saxons. Tutor to prince Ethelwolf. Bishop of Winchester, England. Miracles associated with his relics. His shrine was destroyed during the Reformation. Almost 60 ancient British churches were named for him. His patronage of the weather arose when monks tried to translate his body from an outdoor grave to a golden shrine in the Cathedral in 871. Swithun apparently did not approve as it started raining for 40 days. The weather on the festival of his translation indicates, according to an old rhyme, the weather for the next forty days: Saint Swithun’s day, if thou dost rain, For forty days it will remain; Saint Swithun’s day, if thou be fair, For forty days ’twill rain nae mair. 1. July 2026 1. July 2026 07/01/2026 Entire blog as a free PDF eBook. I wrote about the fact that the pharmaceutical industry is a mafia more than five years ago. Now, using yesterday’s article on thedigger.co as an example—Inclisiran: How the NHS Became a Tool of Industrial Policy—you can follow, step by step, the entire process of approving an untested “drug” chosen by the mafia to unhealthily lower cholesterol levels necessary for life. The quotation marks around the word “drug” will become unnecessary if we agree with my definition of this substance: Drug – a chemical substance administered to alleviate symptoms or adjust laboratory test results to standards manipulated by the pharmaceutical industry, without triggering self-healing processes, and causing additional diseases. The issue of money in medicine is important, but it’s complex and difficult to grasp intuitively. To unpack this problem, I’ll show you the pathway of onedrug, from its discovery all the way through to its …

S.D. Wright Jul 1, 2026 The tradition of the Church is clear: Someone in Leo XIV's position cannot excommunicate the SSPX. After the Society of Saint Pius X’s episcopal consecrations on July 1, the Vatican is expected to issue a declaration of excommunication soon. These expectations were strengthened the day before, after Leo XIV’s June 29 letter to Father Davide Pagliarani, the SSPX’s superior general. The letter urged Pagliarani not to proceed with what it described as a “schismatic act” and stated that “to tear the seamless garment of Christ is a sin of extreme gravity.” Today’s episcopal consecrations may result in a different situation: In April, SSPX Bishop Bernard Fellay stated that Vatican sources had revealed the intention was to excommunicate the entire SSPX (i.e., all priests and official members), and even the lay faithful attending their chapels. However, it is impossible that the excommunications would be valid or binding. This article will explain how Catholic …More

Book of Amos 7,10-17. Amaziah, the priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam, king of Israel: "Amos has conspired against you here within Israel; the country cannot endure all his words. For this is what Amos says: Jeroboam shall die by the sword, and Israel shall surely be exiled from its land." To Amos, Amaziah said: "Off with you, visionary, flee to the land of Judah! There earn your bread by prophesying, but never again prophesy in Bethel; for it is the king's sanctuary and a royal temple." Amos answered Amaziah, "I was no prophet, nor have I belonged to a company of prophets; I was a shepherd and a dresser of sycamores. The LORD took me from following the flock, and said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel." Now hear the word of the LORD!" You say: prophesy not against Israel, preach not against the house of Isaac. Now thus says the LORD: Your wife shall be made a harlot in the city, and your sons and daughters shall fall by the sword; Your land shall be divided by measuring line …More
From Delia Gallagher: Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, says he is “deeply pained” by the SSPX ordinations today. “It is a schismatic act” he does not know when or how the excommunications will take place. “Despite this serious wound I hope that we can find ways to resolve this problem”
Cardinal Pietro Parolin told journalists in Rome today that he does not know when or how the excommunications of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX) will take place. “Despite this serious wound I hope that we can find ways to resolve this problem.” He also said that he was "deeply pained" by today's episcopal ordinations: "It is a schismatic act."
Tuesday, 8th July 1913 Refused by Brown, Mangham Now Asks Slaton for Pardon Tuesday, July 8, 1913 The Prison Commission again has taken up the application of J. J. Mangham for a pardon. A recommendation is expected to be made to Governor Slaton in the next day or two. Mangham is the Griffin cotton mill man given four years for embezzlement and one year on a misdemeanor charge. The application came up some time ago and was sent to Governor Brown by the commission without any recommendation. The Governor returned it with the statement that the board should make a recommendation. That great influence will be brought to bear on Governor Slaton in this matter is generally believed. Mangham was prominent socially and has many intimate frineds [sic] who are close to the Governor. Friends of the imprisoned man claim that he was guilty only upon a technicality. Eugene Black, of Atlanta, is representing Mangham in the plea. Solicitor General Emmet Owens opposed it in the hearing before the …More
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9,1-8. After entering a boat, Jesus made the crossing, and came into his own town. And there people brought to him a paralytic lying on a stretcher. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, "Courage, child, your sins are forgiven." At that, some of the scribes said to themselves, "This man is blaspheming." Jesus knew what they were thinking, and said, "Why do you harbor evil thoughts? Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Rise and walk'? But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins" --he then said to the paralytic, "Rise, pick up your stretcher, and go home." He rose and went home. When the crowds saw this they were struck with awe and glorified God who had given such authority to human beings. shareyourcatholicfaith
Tuesday, 8th July 1913 Police Hunt Principals in Expose Tuesday, July 8, 1913 Search Records of Guests for the Leaders of System Named by Girl Victim. A general rounding up of hotel registers by detectives for the identification of notorious men and women added the latest sensation in the vice investigation instituted following the startling disclosures of Hattie Smith, the pretty 17-year-old girl, who claims to be the victim of the "system." The first move was made Tuesday morning when the manager of the Cumberland Hotel was subpenaed to appear in Police Court with his register that afternoon. The register will be examined by the Smith girl to identify the names of men and women who, she claims, frequent the hotel. Detectives say they will examine every hotel register figuring in this latest expose to identify the names of parties involved. In each case the register will be searched carefully and the name of every person noted as to character and general reputation. Get Evidence for …More
A Deeper Look at the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults for Priests Join the St. Mary Seminary & University’s Center for Continuing Formation for this six-part workshop introducing parish priests to the stages of initiating inquirers into the Catholic faith, including those who are unbaptized and those previously baptized in other Christian communities. The workshop will highlight the priest’s unique role in this process and provide a deeper look at the recently-revised English translation of the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. Fr. Dennis Gill, a regular contributor to Adoremus Bulletin, was ordained in 1983 for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, is Rector and Pastor of the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul and the Director of the Office for Divine Worship. Father Gill completed his graduate studies in the Sacred Liturgy at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and the Pontifical Liturgical Institute of Saint Anselmo in Rome. Wednesday, 9th July 1913 Vice Scandal Probe Postponed for a Day Wednesday, July 9, 1913 Because the attorney of Lena Barnhart, who is accused by Hattie Smith of being a white slave procuress, pleaded for time in which to obtain witnesses to the effect that the Barnhart woman had been introduced to the girl and had been her benefactress, the recent hotel vice scandal which was to have been given an airing yesterday in police court was postponed until today at 2:30 o'clock. Chief Beavers ordered detectives Tuesday morning to summon C. V. Kistner, proprietor of the Hotel Cumberland, to appear in recorder's court and bring the guest register of his establishment. It is rumored that the registers of a number of hotels will be probed within a short while. The case against Elijah Murray, the negro bell boy of the umberland [sic], and against J. Cox, the man who figured in the first arrest in the case, were all postponed until today. Each will be given an airing.
