PRAYER FOR THE RESCUE OF SOULS

When we pray this prayer, we are trying to rescue souls and heal our wounds, both physical and mental; that is, to have compassion and mercy on one another, on lost souls, and on the living in our earthly world. This prayer is originally derived from the prayer for souls in purgatory. We imagine that God, Jesus, the angels, and the saints rescue souls suffering in hell. It would be wonderful if we all prayed this beautiful prayer.
O my Jesus, forgive us our sins. Free the souls in the fires of hell, lead all souls to heaven, especially those most in need of your divine mercy. God the Eternal Father, I offer you the wounds of your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, to heal our wounds, forgive our sins, and save souls. My Jesus, pardon and mercy; through the merits of your holy wounds. Jesus, God, I love you, save souls. Amen.
Share, spread, let this prayer go viral and become official in all our churches. Save yourselves, forgive one another, and renew your faith.

9% of Practicing French Catholics Want Roman Rite

A report by La-Croix.com on December 14 describes the rise in France of young Catholics who attend both the Novus Ordo and the Mass in the Roman rite.
The article cites a Bayard–La Croix survey conducted by Ifop:
• 9% of regular Mass-goers say the Latin Mass is their preferred form;
• 25% appreciate it as much as Eucharist in French;
• 67% of weekly Mass-goers say they have no objection to the Tridentine rite.
La Croix identifies a generation of “bi-ritual” Catholics, mostly under 35 and living in large cities. They reject labels and do not see themselves as part of a “parallel Church,” a term used by Pope Francis in 2021 when restricting the Roman rite.
At Saint-Georges parish in Lyon, many young adults and families attend the Latin Mass.
Grégoire, 31, says he began going five years ago with his wife, who was already attached to the traditional liturgy. He recalls having “preconceived ideas about this world of traditional Catholics,” but now alternates easily between rites. “…More

‘OUR LORD'S SERMON ON THE MOUNT’ by Augustine of Hippo Saint and Doctor of the Church; Book I; Chapter III; point 10, pp. 6-7

[St. Augustine of Hippo – IV-V Century AD; Thagaste, Roman Empire/Hippo, Western Roman Empire; (aged 75) – Church Father – Doctor of the Church – Blessed; Resting Place – Pavia, Italy]
CHAPTER. III.--10. There are in all, then, these eight sentences. For now in what remains He speaks in the way of direct address to those who were present, saying: "Blessed shall ye be when men shall revile you and persecute you." But the former sentences He addressed in a general way: for He did not say, Blessed are ye poor in spirit, for yours is the kingdom of heaven; but He says, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven:" nor, Blessed are ye meek, for ye shall inherit the earth; but, "Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth." And so the others up to the eighth sentence, where He says: "Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." After that He now begins to speak in the way of direct address to those …More

"For this reason the number of sentences before us is to be carefully considered. For the beatitudes begin with humility: "Blessed are the poor in spirit," i.e. those not puffed up, while the soul submits itself to divine authority, fearing lest after this life it go away to punishment, although perhaps in this life it might seem to itself to be happy."

Br. John Aidan Cook was a man who tried his Benedictine vocation at Norcia and Pluscarden, and wasn't able to continue due to various strains. He was diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and was advised that further treatment was pointless. Abbot Benedict of Norcia then visited him in Scotland and received his solemn vows as a monk when he could barely even stand. He offered his holy life to God for the salvation of souls, fortified by the sacraments and surrounded by the monks he loved. He is now buried at Pluscarden Abbey.

The Death and Burial of Br. John Aidan Cook — Pluscarden Abbey

Br. John Aidan Cook was buried here at Pluscarden on Saturday 6th December. He was not a monk of our house, though he had spent time trying his vocation with our community in 2018.
Br. John/Aidan had first tried his vocation with the Benedictine monks of Norcia in Italy. While still a Junior, both physically and mentally he found himself unable to continue on there. He came here in 2018 to see if he could live this vocation at Pluscarden. Although this also was not to be his path, he remained thereafter in close touch with the Pluscarden community, and was a regular guest. As a matter of fact he spent the whole first covid lock-down here.
Aidan then spent time living as a single lay man at his home at Crieff in Perthshire. After a cancer diagnosis, he went through the normal process of chemo-therapy, which at first seemed successful enough. But then the cancer became very aggressive and widespread, and he was advised that further treatment was pointless. He moved into the MacMillan …

Charlotte seminary changes prompt objections, ‘Martin fatigue’

Charlotte Bishop Introduces an Extra Year of Priestly Formation

The Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina, announced a change to its priestly formation programme in an email sent to priests on 15 December, according to the substack.com-account The Pillar.
Beginning in the next academic year, diocesan seminarians will complete a one-year pastoral assignment teaching at a local Catholic secondary school. The teaching year will take place after philosophy studies and before theological studies.
Purpose of the Programme
Seminarians will receive pay, be assigned a lay mentor, and live in local rectories while paying room and board at diocesan rates.
The diocese said the programme is intended to provide sustained pastoral and teaching experience, as well as exposure to the demands of full-time work and daily life.
Priests Tired of Bishop Martin
The article relies largely on anonymous sources. Some priests have raised concerns about the programme’s impact on priestly formation, the lack of formal classroom training, the additional year added to formation,…More
